CS2 is a team game, so always aim to engage in fights where you have the numerical advantage. Avoid situations where you’re outnumbered. When engaging the enemy, try to isolate opponents and position yourself where you can support your teammates, creating crossfire or pincer situations.

Let’s first focus on mid to late-round situations. Suppose you’re on the defensive side in a 2v1 scenario. The enemy was last seen at A site, so you assume they’ll attack A shortly. Both of you are defending A. How should you position yourselves ideally?

Consider one player hiding under the platform and the other under the balcony. If the enemy comes from A balcony or A1, they will likely check the balcony first. The player under the platform can listen for the enemy and react accordingly. If the enemy engages the balcony player, the platform player can flank and shoot the enemy in the back. Conversely, if the enemy spots the platform player, the balcony player can shoot the enemy from the side or back. This creates a crossfire, making it difficult for the enemy to react.

Now, let’s discuss offensive positioning, particularly in post-plant scenarios. Suppose you’ve planted the bomb at the CT site. One player can position themselves at the phone booth, and the other at the trash can. This setup allows you to cover each other and create a crossfire when the enemy tries to defuse the bomb.

Many casual players don’t think about these positioning strategies until they’ve played for hundreds of hours. By understanding and implementing these tactics early, you’ll gain a significant advantage.
